Abstract art is one of the many topics covered in our blog. Abstract art, is an art form that is not an accurate representation of a form or object. This representation can either be a simpler version of the original shape or form, or an exaggerated expression of the original form.
There are many types of abstract art, and three main types stand out: Cubism, Neoplasticism and Abstract Expressionism. There are many famous artists who painted in these styles. However there are some that are more well-known in the field than others. Pablo Picasso, for example, was most famous for painting Cubism Abstract Art. And Piet Mondrian is probably one of the best examples of Neoplasticism, whilst Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock are both good examples of Abstract Expressionism.
Contemporary art is normally exhibited by a commercial gallery, private collectors, corporations or even publicly funded arts organizations. Contemporary artists are financially supported by grants, prizes and awards along with the support of direct sales of their work.
Close relationships are observed between publicly funded contemporary art organisers and the commercial sector. For example, a handful of dealers in Britain, represent the artists featured in leading publicly funded contemporary art museums.
Some corporations have attempted to integrate into the contemporary art world, exhibiting contemporary art within their own premises. These corporations also organise and sponsor art awards and build up extensive collections.
The institutions of art have been critiqued lately for regulating what is known as contemporary art. For example, Outsider art is literally contemporary art in that it is produced in the present day.
Contemporary art is considered as any piece of original art that has been painted in the present day, or anything after World War II.
